The GNUish Project (for OS/2 and DOS) January 1997

GNUish was organized in 1989 to bring 16bit ports to small systems
running OS/2 or DOS. Information and archives are available via

   http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/
   http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/systems/ibmpc/gnuish

and also by ftp

   ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/gnuish
   ftp://wuarchive.wustl.edu/systems/ibmpc/gnuish

Documentation on the project appears in

   gnuish.tex texinfo source
   gnuish.inf info version
   gnuish.htm html version

GNUish contains some 32bit versions (GNU awk is an example); however,
the emphasis was on 16bit ports (which often have less capabilities
than 32bit versions). Users with a 386-or-better are advised to
examine the documentation for information on other work based on GNU.
